bleeds

When you want your artwork to extend right to the end of the page without any margin or white space, you should extend the artwork over the edge of the page by a couple of millimetres. This extension of the artwork is called a bleed. This is necessary because when the final print is cut to size it is not possible to cut it exactly on the edge of the print. By bleeding the image over the edge of the page, the image is guaranteed to run right to the edge.
